MRV Collapse day final

Today was the last day of collapse for musicals rock. We spent the whole of last night taking down the rig and packing all the equipment into the van. All lighting is packed away and is safe all we have to do is unload into college.

We have now finished unloading into college and packed all the equipment away safely. We made sure to check all equipment is ours and any damage to the equipment was noted. We spent a majority of the time re coiling cables and put them back away safe.

Musicals rock is now over.

MRV Collapse day 10

Today is our final show day and tonight we have a get out. This afternoon we have a media team coming in so I am needed to adjust the lighting to lower levels to compensate for the cameras. I have made a new show file and have programmed Sub masters which changes the light levels of the wash.

The final show is now over and went as well as it could of done. There were still issues with movers tracking and marking which I didn’t notice before but overall the Lighting looked good and nothing went really wrong. There are alot of mistakes which I would of liked to of fixed but didnt have the chance to.

Tonight we are going to take the whole rig down and pack it all into the van ready to be taken back to college.

MRV Collapse day 9

Today was the day of our second show. We are planning on fixing any changes to lighting in the morning so we are ready for the afternoons rehearsal.

Today went well again and we have fixed even more mistakes and tracking issues we have had with lighting. We have constant issues with movers coming on when they are not supposed to because of tracking. As a result of making quick fixes I am rushing programming so sometimes I record some hard data instead of soft. I am trying to keep all data in the show file soft as alot of the data we have change constantly and dont want to update a load of cues.

The evening show went well but could of gone better. Lighting is looking more slick and the marks and tracking are starting to flow more smoothly.

MRV Collapse day 8

Today is the night we open. There are still many changes with lighting we need to make and each issue we fix creates more issues so I am trying my best to keep on top of marking and tracking movers through as this is one of the biggest issues we have.

Today went well but could of gone better. We spent the morning fixing all the mistakes we saw yesterday and went through a few cues we thought needed changing. We had a rehearsal in the afternoon which we noticed even more mistakes and issues which we were able to fix prior to the house opening. Tomorrow is our second night and we are planning on fixing more mistakes.

MRV Collapse day 7

Today was the start of our second week on collapse. The rig is now up and working and we are ready to start going through the cue stack and fixing any changes we have.

Today was a long day and we had many issues with lighting. The majority of the issues of focus palletes and beam palletes and we are having issues with the lights we re patched as the fixtures were coming on in cues we didnt want them to be in. This was an easy fix though and required a bit of re programming when we got the chance.

Tomorrow is opening night so we are fixing as many changes as we can prior to this.

MRV Collapse day 6

Today was the 6th day of collapse and today we are getting into the venue with Lighting and staging.

The day started at 8:30 meeting outside the GV planning on whats going to happen. I assisted with the loading of the van and once that was done I then walked down to the venue and started rigging and focusing lamps. By the time the whole rig was up and the majority of the rig had power and data I loaded up my show file and began to see if any changes needed to be made to the patch.

The rigging had alot of mistakes with alot of the movers being rigged on the wrong wide or facing the wrong way. The way I got round this was by inverting the pan and tilt on the movers that were rigged wrong and re patching the fixtures which were rigged wrong. This didn’t effect much only the groups.

By the end of the day we had a working patch and had the majority of the focus palletes plotted as well as a few beam, colour and effects. Tomorrow we are ready for the technical rehearsal. I have made a new magic sheet as well which has a few key groups which I am thinking are going to be changed throughout the course of the rehearsal.

MRV Collapse day 5

Today was the 5th day of our collapse on MRV and today we have a run through in the GV. While this is happening Lighting is being prepped but today I am sitting with the DSM and LD and running the show file as it is and today is the first time we have seen a rehearsal on actual staging so we are going to be making changes to some cues which may require different lighting.

Today was successful and we did edit alot of cues and made alot of changes to the show file which needed to be made. We are now ready to start rigging and running through the cue stack at the venue.

MRV Collapse day 4

Today is the fourth day of collapse and today I have setup one of each mover we have available at college and today I am starting to colour match all of these movers. As well as this I am starting to programme some effects and movement effects to start setting scales and sizes to make sure they arent completely off when we are in the venue.

Today has been productive and we now have some data programmed into the show files as well as started editing some effects. Tomorrow we have a run through in the GV and I am going to be running through the cues with the DSM.

MRV Collapse day 3

Today is the 3rd day of our collapse and we are planning on finishing programming today. As the movers are arriving today and we need to start prepping lighting kit for when we get into the venue.

We finished programming the show today on the first draft. There are a few issues which we think are going to be issues but these can only be fixed for when we have the rig up and we can then see the issues.

MRV Collapse day 2

Today was the second day of our collapse on MRV and we still havent finished programming the show. We have made good progress yesterday and we are looking to make better progress today and at least get to the start of the second act.

We did reach our goal today and have put ourselves in a good position as we found out the movers are arriving at college so we are planning on using the ETC dongle to start colour matching with the movers we have. Which include everything but the 250 entours and the robe robins. So the more colour matching and prep we can do prior to getting into the venue the easier it will be for when we start plotting in the venue.
